Do you think the water kept in the bottle is safe for consumption? People mainly purchase bottled water because of two reasons and that is convenience and portability. But do you know how it is manufactured and what it may contain? Bottled water is manufactured using polyethylene terephthalate (PET) or polycarbonate. Some manufacturers use polycarbonate plastic, Bisphenol A (BPA) as well. As per EPA, bottled water may contain small amounts of bacterial, fungal, mineral and other contaminants, which can be harmful to health.
Why is Bottled Water Unsafe for Consumption?
Besides this, after drinking bottled water, we throw it and these are again collected and reused. The reuse of plastic water bottles can increase the bacterial contamination if these are not washed properly. But, the question is do you think, just looking clean means the bottle is safe is and free from contaminants. I don’t think so. Plastic bottles contain a chemical called bisphenol A, or BPA and this can leach from plastic source and enter into the water making it unsafe for consumption. So, why to risk your health?
This year’s World Ocean Day is also focusing on the topic prevent plastic pollution and encourage solution for a healthy ocean. So, come together and stand united to stop plastic pollution to stay healthy.
